Finance Department Letter No. 46373_1 Dt: September 23, 2013

High Court of Chennai in his letter cited has  informed that the W.P.Nos.21525, 22423 of 2013 and batch cases filed challenging the orders issued in the reference second cited came up for hearing on 20—9—13. Upon hearing the submissions made by the learned Advocate General, the Hon’ble High Court was also pleased to pass interim order that there should not be any reduction in pay pursuant to the above said Government Orders for the month of September, 2013 with a direction to post all the Writ Petitions along with the Writ Appeals pending before the First Bench.

In view of the orders passed by the Hon’ble High Court dated: 20—9—2013 in W.P.Nos.21525, 22423 of 2013 and batch cases, I am to inform that there shall be no reduction in the pay of the employees for the month of September, 2013 pursuant to the orders issued in the Government Order second cited. The Pay and Accounts Officers, Treasury Officers and Sub-Treasury Officers are directed to admit the pay bills of the employees for the month of September , 2013 without any reduction in pay as per the above directions of the Hon’ble High Court.

PTI confirms Central D.A. from July'13 @10%, announcement likely next month

New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Government is likely to announce a hike in dearness allowance to 90 per cent from existing 80 per cent in September, benefiting about 50 lakh central employees and 30 lakh pensioners ahead of the festival season.

According to official sources, the preliminary assessment suggests that dearness allowance hike will be in the range of 10-11 per cent and would be effective from July 1 this year.

Salary of Tamil Nadu staff to be slashed

Chennai: A volcano seems simmeri­ng in the Tamil Nadu bur­ea­ucracy, involving almost all the departments. Tho­us­an­ds of employees, including police inspectors, now face steep salary cuts and several of their unions are readying petitions to the chief mi­nister “for merciful rev­i­ew”, according to PWD eng­in­eers’ association pre­sid­ent K. Mohanraj.

The staff discontent follo­wed the issuance of government order (GO) 242 of July 22, wherein an elaborate ex­ercise of “rationalising mistakes done earlier in salary fixing”, salary cuts averaging about Rs 12,000 have been slapped on over 20,000 emp­lo­­yees at middle level res­p­o­nsibilities in gro­up B.
This GO has undone the pay inc­reases granted by the government in February 2011, which were resisted by officers in the higher ranks as those pay hikes elevated the emoluments of their subordinates over theirs.
