Salary of Tamil Nadu staff to be slashed
The staff discontent followed the issuance of government order (GO) 242 of July 22, wherein an elaborate exercise of “rationalising mistakes done earlier in salary fixing”, salary cuts averaging about Rs 12,000 have been slapped on over 20,000 employees at middle level responsibilities in group B.
This GO has undone the pay increases granted by the government in February 2011, which were resisted by officers in the higher ranks as those pay hikes elevated the emoluments of their subordinates over theirs.
